You figure “lessons” can wait while you simply get to know each other, which can involve a lot of petting, playing, giving treats “just because”, letting the puppy get away with jumping on the furniture, and so forth.
Of course, your puppy is adorable. And of course you want to shower him with love. But take a second to think about what your puppy is learning from your behavior: you are a bottomless source of all the things he wants. Well, what happens when what he wants isn’t so cute, and you aren’t happy about it? You’re upset, he’s upset, and things become confusing. For puppies, confusion leads to anxiety, and anxiety can lead to poor behavior.
The foundation for training your puppy begins with the right tools. Let’s take a look at some of the tools you’ll want to incorporate into your puppy-training regimen.
The Crate
Crates are a great idea for your puppy - they are wonderful tools for housetraining, and they give your dog a space of his own. To choose one that’s best for you and your […]

Chihuahua puppy training is a challenge partly because the puppies are so small. Being very gentle with your puppy is a must because the puppies are frail and often easily frightened. But with patience and persistence, you can usually make quick progress toward your training goals. You do have training goals, right?
Socialization
Chihuahua puppy care includes proper socialization. Socialization best occurs before the puppy is 3 months old. Avoid frightening and painful experiences. Try some of the following.
* Invite friends to meet your Chihuahua.
* Carry your puppy to places where there are groups of people.
* Take your pup for car rides.
* Introduce your puppy to being bathed, brushed and inspected.
* Let your puppy experience anything and everything you wish them to become comfortable around.
Behavior Training
Gentle training is a must for Chihuahua puppy training if you expect to have a well balanced adult dog. Discipline must be done with kindness and patience, never by slapping, hitting and kicking. Rough training is uncalled for with any dog, but especially for very small dogs. Reward the behavior you seek with high praise and limited […]

This is keeping your baby clean and groomed…how do you go about this? You’re about to find out.
One way to keep your pup or dog looking clean and nicely groomed is to groom on a regular basis. Making a daily habit of grooming for a few minutes a day will help your pup’s coat look top-notch. If you don’t have that much time to spend, try every couple of days.
The General Grooming
For short coats, a natural bristle brush will help distribute the oils in your Chihuahua’s hair, a rubber bristle brush removes dead hair, and a flea comb will help you check for fleas. Long coats will do best with a pin brush or a wide-tooth comb. Use a hair de-tangle solution to aid in brushing out mats. When grooming your pup, pay special attention to the eyes and ears.
When Shedding
Chihuahuas kept indoors will shed year-round. A daily vigorous grooming using a bristle or rubber curry brush will help […]

A beagle pup is a great thing to get for you and your family as they make great family dogs and can be a lot of fun to raise and watch grow up. But beagle puppies require a lot of patience and beagle puppy care is not as easy as it may seem. Take the time to do some research on how to raise your beagle pup the right way so that it stays healthy and grows into a great family dog. Always keep your vet involved with regular appointments and consultations if something should go wrong.
Rule number one, and probably the most important thing to remember that goes right along with patience, is to know what to expect from your beagle pup as it develops and grows. A three-month-old beagle is not going to be able to be taught the same things as a ten-month-old would. Beagles are just like kids in that you have to teach them based on where they are in their physical and mental development.
If you are caging your beagle pup to try and housebreak it and the process is not working then there is another way that may do the trick. Set aside a […]

Perhaps their willfulness comes from the fact that Boston Terriers were originally bred for fighting. That is why if you want a Boston Terrier for a pet, it is always an excellent idea to get one while they are still young.
Having this breed of dog takes a lot of time, love and care. Looking for Boston Terrier puppies for sale is no easy task either. There are a lot of things to think about before finding Boston Terrier puppies for sale. You have to be absolutely positive that it’s what you really want.
Boston Terrier puppies hate being left alone. They love constant attention and care, which will be very hard for you if you don’t have the time or you’re not that willing to put in the time needed to raise this puppy properly. They also have health problems, so you will need to give them ample interest to make sure that they grow up healthy.

Dog crates can be utilized for a variety of purposes, the most popular use for a dog crate is within the home but they are often used for transporting dogs by car or in a dog show environment.
The imperative rule to remember when dog crate training is under no circumstances whatsoever allow your dog to view the crate as punishment, they should never feel that they have been banished to their dog crate. Dogs need the crate to feel welcoming, to be a place of safety, their own little haven.
Dog crate training is generally easier with a puppy as they have no bad experiences to recall when you are enticing them into the crate. Adult dogs can be trickier, especially rescue dogs as you may not possess a lot of knowledge pertaining to the dog’s history. For all you are aware the dog may have been traumatised during its past by being forced into a crate, or confined to a restricted area & abandoned.
Without intending to you could be asking your dog to relive a nightmare, this is where the magic word in dog training comes in “patience”. You have to be respectful of your dog at all times & […]

The prospect of a new puppy in the house is an exciting thing. Everyone loves these adorable little creatures. They are cute, cuddly, and even funny. Who could resist? What is not especially appealing is the fact that all new puppies who are brought into the home will, at some point, empty their bladders wherever they see fit. This could be your bed, your beautiful area rug, or your new sofa. Cleaning up these messes is definitely not what you had in mind when you brought your new puppy home. A process every new puppy owner must go through in order to save all of their niceties is housebreaking. This can be a relatively simple process if it is done right, and if you have some help and ideas on how to get it done effectively. As humans, we have an instinctive nature within ourselves to relieve our bodies of normal functions within the confines of privacy, and we are taught that there is a proper place to do this. Dogs, however, do not come with any built-in mechanisms which teach them when and where to relieve themselves. It is up […]

Every dog should view his or her owner as the pack leader in order for the owner to maintain control, and this is no different for the German Shepherd pup. When raising your German Shepherd pup, it is essential to make sure that your dog knows all of the basic commands in order for you to be able to keep control over every situation.
When most people bring a German Shepherd pup into their home, they are often times hoping that this animal will grow into a nice guard dog who will alert them of dangers if they ever arise. But there are two different types of guard dogs, as there are the dogs that can’t be trusted around anyone including its human family, and the dog that only sees danger in strangers.
But there are things you should know and things you should be aware of when you are raising your Chihuahua pup that can help you make your life easier and the pup’s life easier too. Always be aware of your pup and continually do research on ways to improve your pup’s life, the things you can do to improve it’s behavior and also ways help improve the interaction between yourself and your dog.
Rule number one is that Chihuahuas are not good with kids, so do not get a Chihuahua if you have small children. Chihuahuas do not react well to loud noises, a lot of commotion, and the fast movement that children do on a daily basis. These kinds of things can stress a Chihuahua out and cause it to possibly resort to a biting response and constant barking that will never go away. So be smart and avoid a Chihuahua if you have kids.
A Chihuahua pup’s personality naturally tends to be very possessive and take protecting it’s own area and possessions very seriously. It is cute to watch a little puppy […]
